Mobil 1 or alternative?

I have used nothing but conventional oil in the five family Saabs that we have owned over the years so I am a novice when it comes to synthetics. We recently acquired a 2006 9-5 that has been raised on synthetic oil. The owner's manual specifies either SAE 0W-30 or 0W-40 that meet GM-LL-A025 requirements and for "optimum performance" either Saab Turbo Oil or Mobil 1 European Car formula. I see ads for synthetics that claim to be superior to Mobil 1 although most do not list the GM-LL-A025 specification. Should I stick with Mobil 1 or are there alternatives? I also note that Saab gives a nod to Mobil 1 0W-30 high mileage formula in the 2007 owners manual. Any comments will be appreciated.
