I have been using oversized oil filters ever since the AC/Delco PF-53 stopped being a clone of the Saab filter. The oversized filter which fits our 9-5 engines is the same filter used on the TURBO version of Chrysler's PT Cruiser (the non-turbo PT Cruisers use the same smaller filter as our Saabs) and most Ford Truck V8 engines.
I usually buy a Purolator PL20195, but the Ford Motorcraft FL400S is arguably the cost/quality compromise leader at only ~$3 each - provided you don't mind having Ford Motor Company written across your oil filters in script.
The Mobil-1 over-sized equivalent is the M1-209. Great when you can get one for free as part of a Mobil-1 special offer, but too costly otherwise
