I'm a fairly competent Saab DIY amateur, including rebuilding the Garrett GT17 turbo on my 1999 9-5 2.3lpt, BUT... I've changed the serpentine belt 3 times in 8 years and I have NEVER been successful with getting the center pulley off!!! I've followed all the tricks, including the clever FIX MY SAAB guys suggestions for making the custom tool with an extension handle. I've cut down several allen wrenches with a Dremel to make the tight fit into the bolt recessed socket, but this last time, I must have stripprd the recess for good.. I never did find a metric or English size that really fit properly. I'm going to take another look at it with a dental mirror and then figure out a new strategy...Raise the engine to clear the side unibody obstruction?..Drill through the unibody from under the fender to get a straight on approach? (probably not a good idea,....)
If ever I get the bolt out, you can bet a good old hex head is going back in its place!!
Best of Luck,
Kirk D.
