Had this happen to me last winter... exact same thing; hit a curb in slippery snow going slow and had crooked steering wheel and less control after. I don't remember if I had warning lights go on, but I had no RPM issues and no CEL.
In my case the control arm was bent backwards which threw off the alignment pretty badly. The tires were basically pointed outwards and were fighting each other to go straight.
The cost to fix at an indy was roughly $700, which included control arm, both bushings and maybe a tie rod or ball joint, not sure which.
The wheel bearing wasn't replaced but I can tell it's been slowly getting worse since then.
I bet the noise you hear is the tires not riding straight (parallel to one another), which is why you hear it louder on plain pavement and not so much on snow where the tires can slip more.
Let us know how it goes.
