Original post mentions 5W40 Mobil One in use. You suggested 5W30 Dino oil would flow better at cold start. I corrected your error, 5W30 Synth will flow better.
Where did you come up with the idea I'm comparing 20W50 vs. 5W30?
It's true, we buy tons of hype here. As does the rest of the automotive world at large, including almost the entire automotive engineering community, all manufacturers, and most service shops you'll ever encounter. Must be real suckers.
The real truth, of course, is that the oil industry has us all fooled. The real way to insure our engines never suffer oil-related damage is simply to use no oil at all. That way whatever happens to our engines we cannot blame the oil.
