The theory that radials need to turn "only in the same direction" has pretty much been discredited. And when you think about it, the front tires experience both thrust (drive) and drag (brake), while the rears experience only brake. Directional tires *need* to be rotated straight forward and back, but non-directionals can be cross rotated ... or not. The main thing is the result. If the wear pattern is perfectly the same side-to-side, it hardly matters. If one side wears a little faster (typically the right hand side of the car seems to suffer more), then cross rotating can help a tiny bit. Sometimes, though, as happened to me, it gets weird. My 9-3 (with P-6s) pulled a little when I cross rotated, went straight as an arrow when I "uncrossed" the fronts. Go figure.
