My 2007 9-5 Sedan Experiences.. Posted by Herb Hirsch [Email] (#114) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Herb Hirsch) on Wed, 15 Apr 2009 06:45:07 In Reply to: 2007 9-5 Sedan Experiences.., Kro, Tue, 14 Apr 2009 20:40:30 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a 2007 9-5 Aero sedan with automatic. Currently it has 26K miles.
Generally, the car is everything I expected and has proven to be extremely reliable. I installed Bluetooth, replaced the floormats with quality mats from Genuine Saab, upgraded the xenon headlamps with inner halogens for flash-to-pass functionality and recently installed Koni FSD shocks and struts.
My frame of reference is my wife's 2004 9-5 (65K miles now; bought new) and my former 2000 9-5 Aero (sold at 280K miles, bought new). Other than a couple of recalls, I've only returned to the dealer re my 2007 for free scheduled service.
From a reliability standpoint I can only reflect on problems to-date (zero, none, nada) and observed improvements on my 2007 9-5 versus my former 2000 9-5 as follows.
1. Use of Akebono brake pads that do not make dust
2. Components used throughout the front end are heavier.
3. Xenon headlights are standard and last longer.
4. Orange relay (headlight control), a weakness in my 2000 is gone
5. Electrical system throughout has improvements in components and connections that should improve reliability
6. The DIC design has finally been fixed to ensure a better life. I still carry a spare in the trunk.
