215-55-16 is the standard OE size and has adequate load capacity for the car when fully loaded (5 average people plus a couple or three hundred pounds of luggage). Load rating of "97" in that size is an "XL" (extra load) rating, which the original car did not have. Not a big deal, especially going form a lower rating to a higher one. When going the other way, 3 or 4 psi higher inflation pressure is advised.
I would get a "V" rated tire for better handling, but the "H" rated is safe for this continent. Depends on your budget and driving habits. Do check the performance ratings in Consumer Reports (November issue has tire ratings) or at least Tire Rack. I prefer Consumer Reports b/c they rate every tire against a reference standard tire. Tire Rack rates 4 different tires against each other every time - there's no real way to compare a tire from one test group to another, although you can get an idea of a tire's strong and weak areas.

- 205/60-r16 works, 97 V or H is fine. n/m, jimmy, Thu, 30 Apr 2009 07:58:31
