Also have the 9-5 '04....an Arc Wagon. I have a bit over 65K on it, and no evidence of any oil issues. I change with M1 0W-40 every 5K, NAPA Gold filter.
We just returned from a trip, and I found the comment about the DIC interesting. We were in WV, pulling away from a stoplight, and the car just went dead. My wife was driving, and she pulled off onto the shoulder, did a normal restart, the car started fine, and we drove all the way home to IL without incident. As with most problems that don't recur, there's probably no way of diagnosing it, but we certainly had some sort of "left by the side of the road," however temporary.
