I watched a TV show recently (Motorweek ?) and they had a KONI factory specialist as a guest...
My understanding from the TV show is that the modern day shock has multi valves in it...and the jounce test (fender bounce test) shows only one valve out of the 3-4+ valves in the shock to be bad. So to rely 100% on this method can mean you are driving on worn out shocks...or "old school" diagnosis.
The specialist mentions that carefully and/or professionally evaluating factors such as "nose dive" upon braking, and rocking back on "off the line"...and pitch/roll on cornering are better indicators of current condition of shocks and struts.
