I roll them all down for the first mile or two to let the heat out - by then the AC is cold and not having to chill superheated air. Plus I don't like breathing the off-gassed plastic fumes from the car sitting in the sun.
Both my 4 cyl 9-5's are about the same - the AC works fine up to about 90 deg, maybe 100 on the fwy, but isn't as cold as some American cars and trucks I've been in. Perhaps the V6 used a bigger compressor?
