I too was faced with the same dilemma.
I purchased a one-foot long piece of 1/2" O.D. iron pipe.
- cut a slot in one end to fit the radiator flush plug
- cover 4" of the other end with electrical friction tape for a good grip.
It has worked fine for many years for me.
