Head gasket*S*? Is this a V6? If so, it doesn't need head gaskets. It needs an oil cooler. I have yet to hear of a 9-5 V6 that actually needed head gaskets. They're always mis-diagnosed oil cooler failures. Unless it overheated severely...
If it's not a V6, then yeah, maybe you need a head gasket, but don't do it at a dealership. You can save ultra money by bringing it to a Saab specializing independent shop. I think the '01 2.3t's fall under the headbolt retorque category. Anyone want to jump in with a for sure answer? The fix could be as simple as that. And like john b asked, why do they think the head/block may be warped? Did it overheat?
