Bob, my 01 Aero had oil pressure issues, stretched and noisy chains, blocked pickup, cofee grounds in bottom of pan. Bottom end was still ok though. Cleaned everything I could get at, rolled in new timing chain. Only problem is balance shaft chain was just as noisy as timing chain!! Ended up cutting it, and pulling it out. Sounds easy enough, but chain got stuck under sprocket, against the timing chain case cover. In the process of turning engine over to get it out - socket on balancer- the chain pushed a hole in the cover= major problem. Real long story short, I had to replace the cover, and did it with engine in the car. So there is no balance shaft chain in this engine. The car is an automatic, and even in gear at idle, it does not vibrate. You cannot tell difference between engine with, and engine without, balance shafts chain. Good luck, and regards, Tom S.
