Thanks Tom, your posts cam up in my searches and read through them all regarding your unfortunate balance chain/timing cover snafu, that must have ground your gears, and literally! I am in a sense happy to hear you had similar issues I am having and came out of it OK, exception noted above.. the blocked pickup screen and pile of crumbs under it scared me the most.. I would hate to have that timing chain cover snafu happen to me, but I guess it's a chance to take. It is real sloppy and the black plastic parts lead me to the original guides getting ripped apart with chain slop so I feel I have to yank it. I think I'll keep tight pressure on trailing end of chain, but look at some open timing chain pics first that I have seen on the BB to look at innards and figure out which end looks best to pull out first, then cross fingers and hope for the best.. it felt like a vibrating machine before anyway with toasted M mounts, so can't be that much worse as you have noted..
