Take a look-see at all three "easy to access" engine mounts. My 2000 exhibited the same vibration in the steering wheel until I changed the mounts last summer.
I agree that your mileage seems too low for this to be the problem, but what do you have to lose other than a half-day of time playing in the engine compartment?
