I wish I could say I had directions, and also wish I had them when I did mine.. I was going to try and tie a strong nylon twine on the end as you also read from posts and had a wire hooked onto chain to try and do so, but it slipped off and the chain disappeared up into the chain cover.. At this point I had no choice and ended up going for it turning motor clockwise and it got stuck in chain guide when it came over last sprocket and dropped into v shaped part of chain guide.. I got lucky and shoved a stiff electical fish wire up there and pushed the stuck chain up and link by link it finally came out.. talk about being relieved.. I think maybe if it came out the other end, motor turned counterclockwise, it may not get stuck after it falls from other sprcket as no v shaped guide on that end, but not sure.. I searched like you for directions and posted for help, but no luck either.. even if I had gotten string on it, I was afraid it might get stuck on a sprocket.. if there is no harm in turning motor over counterclockwias, I would go that route if I had to do it again..
One bit of advice that helped me, I took off the bearing cap and it gave me more room to work. I also used papertowels soaked in oil to cover up area and to cover open crankshaft to catch grinding dust which helped keep it from spraying all over innards..
FWIW, here's a pic of my chain out and dremel tool extension and bit tool I used to grind pins off the link... took less than 5 minutes to grind both pins down and to pop off link plate and link..
Sorry, wish I could be of better help..
