KONI'S: I've used Koni's for years on my 9-5's, 9000's and 900's. I've consistently been very satisfied with the results; they perform as advertised and last a long time.
CAUTION: Recently, I replaced the OEM struts on my 2007 9-5 with Koni's FSD struts; wonderful results. However, when I removed the driver's side strut and took it apart the upper strut bearing came apart and the little balls went all over the place. Since I had to intention of replacing the bearing when I started, I did not have a new one on hand. I had to borrow a neighbors car (a humongous SUV) to drive to the dealer to pick up 2 bearings (just in case I ran into a second defective bearing). At 25K miles I had no reason to suspect any problem with the bearing.
IMHO...I would replace the strut bearing as a matter of course at 100K miles or greater. And no, I have not followed my own advice in the past. Regardless, I would have a replacement bearing on hand when replacing the strut whether you plan to use it or not.
