engine surges 'n stutters at start up

Actually I think it could actually be the engine quiting and the computer may be adding fuel to kick it up a little, it then races a little then dies and then races a little then dies.. for a short period of time. Maybe less than 1 minute. The engine seems to slowly recover and then runs well. This has happened 3 times in the last 3 months, allways at the first start in the morning. What could this be? Has it happened to you?
I have a 1999 9-5 se v-6 with 26000 miles.
