Beam type torque wrenches aren't bad because they are inaccurate. On the contrary, they can be quite accurate as long as you take into account any error in the zero position of the pointer. The problem is reading the damn things. It can be _really_ hard to read the scale while reefing on the wrench while lying on your back under the car. You can put a piece of masking tape with a mark at the proper place on the scale to help a little, but the bottom line is that these wrenches are just a big PITA to use.
If you already have one and want to torque an important suspension fastener, I suggest that you be very careful, double check it, or better yet, have a helper read the scale while you do the grunting.
Consider the click type wrench to be a long-term investment. You will use it for many many years and pass it on to your son (or daughter). And you will impress the hell out of Bill next door when you torque your spark plugs or wheel nuts. It will make you look like a pro. Just don't let him borrow it!
