My 2001 LPT (purchased used at 67K) has been a fabulous car, with only $3K on repairs to date (.05 per mile), now at 128K. I keep waiting for the big ticket problems and it keeps running perfectly. Granted most of those miles are highway, but I LOVE it for that. It is so much quieter and more comfortable, with richer leather than my 04 Arc, that I use it for all my trips. In fact right now I'm on my way back down from Portland to the Bay Area. Tonight, driving in pouring rain over the mountain passes I wouldn't have wanted to be in any other vehicle AT ANY COST.
What I'm saying is if you like the car, keep it. Not worth letting it go for a few grand to avoid THE POSSIBILITY of problems that may not occur for some time. And if they come along just fix it and keep going. You can do a lot for the cost of a few new car payments. Plus, I drive alot of new cars of all types for rentals and haven't found anything I really prefer in the $35K category and that's a LOT of money. Just my opinion.
