with those connectors you just squeeze the connector around the existing wire with the new one in the other hole, using a needlenose plier or whatver pliers you have that will get in the tangle. No need to cut or strip- the teeth in the 3m thing grab the wire under the insulation. unless the diagram says a cut off is needed. You get to the wires under the box and identify them in part by pulling the relay and seeing which hole on the socket matches which relay pin, then matching the wire underneath. You need not pull any wires off, if i recall correctly. I think my colors were off too. My memory says no cuts, just a couple of bridge splices, but don't go by that, follow the instructions. I think the relay has some sort of i d on the pins, but maybe not.
It works very well in the end. Awesome light.
