Vacuum Hoses Replaced - Still Shaky Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Sun, 18 Oct 2009 16:05:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I spent some time last night in the garage replacing the vacuum lines in my 9-5. I was going to order some Silicone hoses but figured I would just use the cheap rubber stuff from Advance Auto Parts for now. My Aero is a 2004 with 43k miles on it and the factory hoses were SPENT. They just crumbled off into dust at the connections and the mid-sections were rock hard - hardened into the shape they were in under the hood.
I didn't do any vacuum testing, because I am still confused as to where to plug the darn thing in. There's no Y connection in the PCV hoses on my car as TG suggested. It still makes the rumble/fart sound under boost and stumbles at idle.
Maybe my throttle body is just getting tired. It can hold a steady idle around 825rpm, but as soon as a radiator fan kicks in, or the A/C compressor engages, or a window(s) rolls up, or I put it in park, it stumbles. Revs drop and it makes a funny snort sound as the TB compensates. From park to Drive/Reverse is usually okay.
