If you've got a V6, and you don't know when the timing belt AND tensioner AND idler pulleys were last done, don't hesitate, get them all done ASAP.
Also, if the car has over 100,000 miles, and you don't know if the water pump has been changed, do it while you've got it apart for the timing belt. It is 75% the same labor to get at the pump as the belt.
If you don't, and the belt were to break, you would be in for a $5,000 to $6,000 repair. For whatever reason, the heads cannot be rebuilt, so it is either new heads, or heads from a wrecked car, and many mechanics won't go the used heads route.
