Other sources of coolant on driver's side.... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: need help - its not the Coolant Bypass Valve, BrianCT, Tue, 3 Nov 2009 17:50:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Other possible sources of coolant leaks on the driver's side of the car include:
1) Thermostat housing - if the gasket fails on the thermostat, coolant would leak from the rear driver's side of the engine.
2) Upper radiator hose - long hose snaking from thermostat housing to radiator.
3) Coolant recovery bottle - located on the driver's side fender. A split in the bottle would cause leaks onto the converter beneath the car.
4) Defective replacement coolant by-pass valve - one other poster reported this problem.
5) Failed hose leading to or from the coolant by-pass valve.
The water pump and other hoses are all on the front side and/or passsenger side of the engine compartment.
