My last experience Posted by FrancoisM [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Looking for 2006+ 9-5. What's a realistic Cdn price?, EGD ![]() |
Hi,
I have been through this process for the last 4-6 weeks...
In few words, importating a car cost some money and time. To give my point of view on this, roughly 20-25% to the car value must be added with the importation (example : $20Kus will be equivalent to $25Kcdn after importation) if you take into account :
. currency conversion
. 6.1% tax
. transportation (yourself or the car)
. inspections
. some others that I am presently forgetting...
. Prov. and Fed. taxes are to be applied in any scenarios
Saab value in USA is not cheaper than in Canada. The importation is really worth for a car that has been running few years since salt and sand found on canadian roads are less present on the south side of the border.
Saab Canada (or GM) does not support warranty on importated cars from USA.
I am not comfortable saying how much I paid for my car. I would just mention that $33K was asked and the car has been sitting 2 months at the dealer. I believe that Saab's future in Canada scares customers, so it is pretty bad for the resale value. I must admit, I am also scared. But I like this car!
Good luck,
Francois
