Steve:

The likely cause is something common to all of the devices you listed. I'll list the more likely possible components involved and how to do some simple tests to confirm the cause of the failure. All tests should only be done when the failure is occurring.

1. NOT LIKELY: A loose ground is not a likely cause. Reason: for the devices you mentioned there are a number of different ground points involved. Multiple failures in different places on the car simply don't happen together.

2. Check for +12VDC at both sides of fuse 36 (electric windows - located at end of dash). If no, you have a +54 net failure.

3. Check for +12VDC at fuses 4 and 5 by battery. You can do this check without removing the fuse; use meter pin probe to touch visible metal through top of fuse. If no, you have may have a bad fuse. If yes, the failure is likely either relay 21 or the ignition switch.

4. If you have +12VDC at fuses 4 and 5 and do not have +12VDC at fuse 36 (electric windows), again it is likely the ignition switch or relay 21. To test, try switching the ignition switch between the OFF and ON (running, not start) positions . If you can get it to work, the ignition switch is the likely cause.

5. To further confirm that the ignition switch is the cause of the failure it is necessary to meter the red and two violet wires at the relay 21 socket. The relay 21 is located under the dash to the left of the steering column.

With the ignition switch on and the failure occurring, check for +12VDC at the red and two violet leads at the relay 21 socket.
- If only the red lead shows +12VDC and the two violet leads do not,
the ignition switch is the cause.
- If the red lead and one of the violet leads shows +12VDC relay 21
is the cause.

I recommend that you do the above tests to avoid spending money on an ignition switch ($143.10 at eEuroparts p/n 4943692) versus $8.00 - $15.00 for the relay.

If email me I'll send you the applicable wiring diagrams. Also, send me the VIN for your car so I can reference the correct p/n for the relay (there are two p/n's based upon VIN).
