Skinny tires installed, but not the ball-joints....... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Mon, 16 Nov 2009 14:17:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Winter tires are on the car, but I was one tool short to replace the ball joints. The job requires a deep well 18mm socket, which I did not have. So I soaked all the bolts with PB Blast, completed the summer-to-winter tire swap, then went out later to get the socket, and will be doing this next weekend.
I did note the driver's side ball joint is covered on the exterior with grease. Boy, it is tight between the steering knucle and the row of three mounting bolts! No room in there for any tools other than the deep well socket when removing the steering knuckle bolt.
