Well thats one way at looking at the cost of ownership. You could also
have a Toyota Prius where you get everywhere slower, have cheaper skinny tires etc.. only to find at the end of 6 years that you need a $1200 or more set of new batteries.

Or you could, like me, have had a 6 year old Mazda Protege... at 6 years
very little in real repairs minus brakes, tires etc..BUT.. over $3000 to repair/cover up the rust that is eating the body everywhere.

Its all relative. I've rather maintain an older Saab.
