An opinion, an alignment is not needed.... Posted by Herb Hirsch [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: fsd, bj hammell, Fri, 18 Dec 2009 17:29:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I installed Koni FSD's on my 2007 9-5 Aero several months ago.
I am of the opinion that an alignment is not needed on the front for this reason. Since around 2004 (estimate) SAAB has used a splined bolt for the two bolts used to mount the lower end of the strut. There is no play once the splined bolt is in place and tightened. The three bolts at the upper end of the strut have virtually no play either. Unless something else is wrong, I would assume that your front end alignment will not change.
On the rear there is simply no way to shift anything when the shocks are replaced.
Prime the shocks about 10 full strokes before installation to insure that there isn't any air in the system.
Do not put a wrench on the bolt heads at the lower end of the struts; doing so will strip the spline in the front hub and bearing carrier. After removing the nut use a hammer to tap out the splined bolts.
For a wide range of normal driving the FSD shocks and struts are outstanding.
Good luck,
