After taking a better look at the bearings today, I decided I will use the SKF bearings and pitch the "no brand" bearings which came with the MTC strut mounts.
The SKF bearings rotate freely on their internal balls/rollers, whereas the "no brand" bearings are as stiff as two inter-locked discs of nylon rubbing together. And maybe they are!
