good comments ian41. there may be more differences between my 99 and an 05 as well. I did not get any SID errors and I left my battery connected when I unplugged the key antenna. however, I did remove my battery before I put it all back together b/c while I had it all apart I decided to go for gold and replace my shifter cable finally. can't remember if I put the battery back in before I put the key ant back on or not. I had the used shifter cable for a couple years and since I had it apart to get to the ignition, it made sense to go for it. it wasnt bad. hardest part was getting the large firewall grommet back in. had to use my left hand back behind the dash and carpet to guide it while pushing it back with a small diameter PVC pipe through the center console dash front. too far and tight to reach all the way back with your arms. nice tight shifting again.
