Thanks, I might try it Posted by Bearskull [Email] (#3147) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bearskull) on Sun, 28 Mar 2010 20:28:24 In Reply to: I believe it is possilbe, MI-Roger [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 28 Mar 2010 13:45:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Many thanks for the above suggestions and info.
Yes, it seems it would be possible to completely ignore the a/c on the 9-5. I can only imagine the belt route would look very much like the images of the 9-3 I've seen, for example: http://www.elkparts.com/images/pulleys/pulleys9-3m98-.gif (my 9-5 has the short belt configuration)
I see that part number 4965687 for the automatic without a/c is available at least from British suppliers... and it's in the Scantech catalog, etc.
What I've had pull up so far in searches is either 6PK1980 or 6PK1982 for the measure. I would guess that this is for the long belt configuration, though.
Using the difference between short and long belt lengths (with a/c), then take out the a/c difference, you get something like a 1783 or 1785mm belt (if I just did the math correctly).
Maybe it's just easier to put the center idler back in...
I'll give an update if I try ignoring the a/c with a shorter belt.
