Follow up: Turbo failure after visit to dealer Posted by Rob [Email] (#1828) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Rob) on Tue, 30 Mar 2010 10:46:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Thought I would share this follow up. It seems that the turbo did not fail, but the oil separator had been installed backwards by another mechanic months ago and the pCV system became clogged. Now all I had done last THursday at the dealer was the oil change and oil pressure switch replaced. That was immediately followed by the rear smoke and loss of power as I left the dealer...and they said turbo...so I was relieved that it was not that after all, but puzzled as to why the car behaved that way just after the service. They told me the oil leaked into the turbo and it had to be disassembled and cleaned and I needed a new PCV kit . All in all I am just happy that the car runs well again.
