My '05 Aero 5sp came with the short belt originally. I added the center pulley and the long belt. Don't notice any difference in 10 minutes of driving, but it made a difference on my '01 and now my '01 and '05 are the same.

Don't be scared of the center pulley. It can be done in just a couple minutes extra work on top of skipping it entirely. Not as hard as it sounds, on either my '01 or '05. Put the rear washer in place on the engine. Assemble the pulley, washer, and bolt using duct tape to hold the bolt to the pulley. Leave folded over tabs sticking out so you can pull the tape off later. Position the pulley over the boss (you either have JUST ENOUGH room, or you need to pry the engine sideways a little). Turn the pulley to start the bolt. Pull off the tape. Turn the bolt down by hand as far as possible then tighten (I used a 13mm gear wrench then a 13mm box end for final tightening).
