could have broken the others on a good bump in the road-that would put a huge momentary stress on the two bolts. If the receiving threads are aluminum (not sure of that) use of an air gun (or even big arms) could easily strip those threads. And "nice and smooth" implies the gun kept going once the threads went. Could well be that whoever did it thought, "2 of these nice big bolts will hold it, there are 4 motor mounts."
And who wants to take all that apart again, to put a helicoil in that hole or whatever.
I had considered leaving my 4 cyl on 3 remaining bolts after I broke the bracket - now I surely won't.
