Rick:
It never ocurred to me that the 6" of gas hose from the fuel pump to the tee inside the tank had to be a special type. Of course inside the tank, the outside of the line is covered in fuel. It makes perfect sense now that I have found such a product is available. I see the immersible hose costs 10x the price of regular dry-on-the-outside fuel hose.
I had the old fuel pump with me at NAPA when I bought the regular hose and clamps but the counter guy never mentioned there was a special hose for such applications.
Now that I've had the pump assembly out once, opening it up to replace the incorrect fuel line inside will be a quick job. I'm sure any degradation of the line I used will be slow and I can do this at my convenience sometime before winter.
Thanks for questioning that,
Reg
