Usually when the engine is fully warm, after a highway run (5 miles for my commute). Then I get off the highway, slow down or stop at a light, then accelerate again, then DING-DONG. :( I think 9 times out of ten it is when I am accelerating at low speeds just after a stop that the lights come back on. Sometimes when cruising at 65-70 it will come on randomly too.
The indy drove it locally with the tech2 after replacing the sensor, and the codes didn't come back on so they called me to come pick it up.
With the oil cooler v6 job, it was easily 4 figures and the sensor part and labor was a little under half the total amount. I don't mind that as it's the first major job to be done in 2.5 years of ownership (well I did do timing belt for ~$600 when I first got it at 86k) but golly, my should-be-safe car needs to have ABS and ESP!
I made another appt for Monday, and they said to bring in my old brake pedal switches. I'm not sure about the first one (the light switch) but I definitely have the original "cruise-control" switch as well as the scantech box from the new switch that i installed, saying all the diferent weird part numbers.
I'm sure it will take them 2 minutes to replace them :-P
No word on whether they'll do another tech2 diagnosis again for free.... I hope they let me drive or ride with them so that I can see what the tech2 is doing and when, but on the other hand I can see them making me wait while they do so.
Maybe they can get new wires off a junked car if there is no specific part# for it (or order it from sweden...)
If the sensor and switches are all new and replacing the ABS ECU will not help this code (according to bba-reman themselves however note their website if you search it comes up with a fix for C0131 on a different make!!) that leaves the wires connecting them all, which makes your original diagnosis of "not the sensor" 99% correct. I might owe you a saabnet membership after all.
It's not worth spending 3K on a whole new system.
One thing I remember when I first got the code, is tightening up the firewall trim piece that was hitting the pressure sensor (according to the picture in WIS anyway). My fuzzy memory recalls that it helped for a little while or it was complete coincidence.
