Saab does NOT recommend synthetic ATF in the 9-5 auto trans.
What do you mean about "changing" the fluid "every other oil change"? Are you doing a single drain and refill with the usual 3 quarts, or are you doing the full flush with 12 or more quarts every other oil change? The latter should not be necessary, but until you do at least ONE of those, you are just distributing the new amongst the old. Best to do one complete 12-quart flush, then once a year or so do a single drain & refill to remove accumulated stuff (if any) in teh sump, and just generally keep the fluid newish.
