Thanks. That worked. Did disconnect the power steering pump to provide a bit more room. Two remaining questions. Sitting on the bracket under the water pump was a washer (aluminum/black plastic) 11.8 mm id, 18.7 mm od. Not obvious where it came from - it may well have been there from some previous repair. Also, there was a small copper ring on the floor under the car, 16 mm id, 20 mm od. (this may be from another car repair I did earlier in the day - dead alternator on our Focus).
Also, the new pump came with 4 o-rings. Two for the pipe coupling into the block, one for the smaller pipe that comes out of the back of the pump. It wasn't clear where the 4th one goes. Slightly larger diameter than the two into the block. Does this go on the turbo inlet flange?
