I guess the bottom line to my previous post is that I chose the Saab 9-5 over the other cars I mentioned for some purely emotional reasons, with no regrets. The Audi A4 is a fine car, nearly on par with the BMW 325i (in some ways even better, given my preference for front-wheel-drive vehicles). As I mentioned before, I really expected that I'd like the A4 more than I did. The overall package just didn't light my fire. I guess what I really wanted was something *different* this time. The Saab delivered, in spades. :-)
Also, I should mention that the 2002 model year is the first year for the current-generation A4, so there are no used cars available (and I don't care for the previous generation). I would've had to spend considerably more money for a new A4 compared to what I was able to negotiate on my gently used 2000 9-5 (nearly $10K more, in fact). Even if the prices had been the same, I still think I would've gone with the Saab. It's just what I was looking for: comfortable, elegant, fun to drive, and uncommon enough to ensure that I won't be seeing myself at virtually every stoplight.
