Repaired 95 seat heater Posted by saabsince 93b [Email] (#972) [Profile/Gallery] (more from saabsince 93b) on Sun, 6 Feb 2011 08:15:01 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I finally go around to fixing the driver side seat heater yesterday. It came out well and we now have heat again, but what a complex job. WIS and tips here were helpful.
When I had it all apart I realized I needed hog ring pliers and hog rings. Harbor Freight had the pliers but no rings. Pep Boys did not know what I was talking about and had nothing. Finally Orchard Supply Hardware had real hog rings which I found after asking and arguing with a grumpy old clerk. The real hog rings were a size for hogs and were too big for my pliers, so I had to pre-bend each of them in a vise before using. I worked out OK, and I have rugged hog rings in the seat now.
If you are doing this job, but an upholstery kit with hog ring pliers and automotive hog rings before you start. I noticed eBay has a ton of kits. Most auto parts stores may not have them.
