Gee, you'd like to think they'd treat everyone the same, and usually the service, sales and leasing companies are all 'separate entities', even if under one parent. There are a few dealers who watch this board, so I'm sure they'll say there is no difference in treatment. Does the service dept know a car is leased, via some 'flag' when you bring it in for servicing? It'd be interesting to know that.
I certainly think my dealer's service dept knows I leased from them, and I'd imagine when I show up they might give me preferential treatment over someone who didn't buy/lease there. But will they fix my car better than someone who also got it from them, but via a purchase rather than a lease?
Regardless of whether they take more time and care with a lease or not -- and I imagine your feeling is that they do since it'll be theirs soon enough, I'd think you're better off with a lease with a problem car.
You already know what price your car is worth (minus any real damage you do to it yourself) at lease's end. So if all the problems that are occurring are warranty items, and you bring it to dealer service all the time, then (aside from trying to get out of it via lemon law) it's got to be nice to know that it'll be theirs at some point in the future, no matter what is wrong with it.
But if you try and sell your problem car, everything that is wrong with it (your fault or not) will subtract from the car's value in the buyer's eye. And search the archives for folks reports on Saab resale (yet another plus for leasing).
