My gut feeling say yes, but I've been wrong before. Posted by SWEDECAR [Email] (#112) [Profile/Gallery] (more from SWEDECAR) on Sun, 13 Mar 2011 10:05:33 In Reply to: Help! It sounds fantastic that dielectric grease would insulate enough to allow the power jolt to jump over the spark plug electrodes instead of jumping out through the rubber boot into cylinder head on a perfectly good IDM and spark plugs.
Especially since you have a no start symptom on top of the misfire condition.
But I've learned my lesson hard these last 4 weeks to suspect any and all components until proven innocent, (American justice does not apply to cars).
I have been chasing a no start when hot and also a severe misfire under full throttle, full boost, 5-6000rpm condition on an 04 9-5 4 cyl car.
The severe misfire was a bad tank of gas the customer filled up after leaving my shop after the last repairs and the no start when hot was a bad ignition cassette (latest TK3.7 version).
I have never before seen any of these two conditions with that end result and certainly not at the same time which threw me into a tail spin for 4 weeks resulting in test replacing crank sensor, fuel pump, air mass meter, IDM and spark plugs while at the same time monitoring ignition trigger signals, knock signals, fuel injection signals, crank shaft position signals and more using my high speed labscope.
So I hope you car stays running but it sure sounds weird.
