"OK some people will bash me but..."
It seems that when the car is standing in D
with the brakes applied that the torque converter
still generates too much drag, it does not like
it should transfer nearly nothing.
In fact at low RPM and standing the box should switch
no N (some AUTO-BOXES do this) and it would solve
the problem.
From what I know and from what I have heard from
mechs. the best way to solve this is to change the
ATF fluid to another type that reacts a little
different. However it seems that the AUTO-BOX is
sealed and that SAAB thinks that no ATF fluid
replacement is needed for thousands of miles...
The other solution is to work on the ECU and
to increase idle by just a little bit.
I have noticed the same problem on many AUTO-BOX
cars from many companies, and switching the ATF and
tinkering with idle always seemed to fix the problem.
In my opinion I would pay for an ATF fluid replacement
is SAAB refuses to do so... and see what hapens, this
would also allow my mech to see if the ATF fluid level
was as it should be.
Regards,
Coolknight
