I too am a 'label reader', maybe because I'm a chemist. I noted that the HM 10/40 Mobil 1 oil had been used by some of this BB's contributors. I found some at my local WalMart that had the A3/B3 labelling, and I bought and used it (but not in our SAAB). I went back for more and found that now the product on the shelf is labelled only SL/CF. They still had single quarts that were labelled A3/B3. I wish that I could think that the labelling backed off without any change in the product quality, but I am too familiar with vendors to my employer who make running changes even when the labels stay the same, so I have some concern when package claims are dropped.
The labelling change casts a lot of doubt on it from my perspective - if they spent the time to test and passed the tests they would want to tell me about it. I will probably stick with the Mobil 1 European Car 10/40 and the 5/40 Turbo Diesel oil options.
