Manual Transmission Compatibility Posted by Chadwick [Email] (#569) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Chadwick) on Thu, 19 May 2011 13:26:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello all,
My 2000 9-5 Aero is starting to suffer some manual transmission issues at 175k miles. I'm getting a loud whirring/whining that is speed dependent (not input shaft dependent) in all gears. Immediately drops out as soon as the clutch is pressed.
Anywho, seems like it's time to put a new (well, used) transmission in.
Scrap yard semi-locally has a 5spd out of a 2007 Aero with 66k/mi. Was wondering if anyone had anything to report on compatibility issues with the later boxes in earlier cars. Seems to me everything transmission wise is about the same, and I believe the reverse syncros are improved on the later boxes as well.
TIA for any input.
Best,
-Chad
