Auto Shift Knob Installation Question

I just got my burled walnet shift knob. I read through the instructions, and it doesn't sound too bad to install. Anyone ever done this before? Any problems to look for?
It appears to me that the main issue it the unsoldering of the wires that go to the sport button, then the resoldering once you install the new shifter.
any pointers would be greatly appreciated. It's been several months since I've been around here ;o( -- our new baby girl has been keeping us busy ;o)
thanks,
Rob Catron
