I'm thinking that regular ATF changes (similar interval to oil changes) is a good idea vs less frequent triple changes... both really are dilutions... the triple change gets you down to 30% of the original contamination level (assuming you only get 1/3rd of the atf out)... assuming wear + contaminant buildup is constant in time (ie no sudden changes) doing this regularly would always keep the level of contamination low, rather than building up + cutting back during the triple flush...
I was under the impression all of this is much less of a concern for the 9-5 than for the older ones (eg c900 autobox is very fragile!!)...
btw, I haven't heard of any adverse effects from the "complete flush" suggested on the c900 bb, but I haven't tried it myself... the triple drain/refill is so easy, but more contaminants are left behind because it is a dilution. It is quite possible that an external power flush might be a bad thing, but I have no experience with that either...
