Pads with polymer content need to be broken in properly to avoid what feels like a warped rotor. There can be an uneven transfer of polymer to the rotor and that creates differences in friction around the disk. This problem is most likely to occur with new pads. When the pads have been in use for a while with some heavy braking, the surface is burned off to some extent and this problem is less likely to occur. The recommendations are for severe repeated braking on new pads to get them very hot, but one must not come to a complete stop and certainly should not stop and hold the pads tight on the rotors. I can't find the procedure on the internet. You will find many recommendations to do the opposite to avoid such problems. The problem with that a subsequent heavy emergency braking event can lead to trouble as the pas surface is still 'green' until it is burnt. So you will find conflicting information. Pads that have low amounts of polymer content do not seem have these issues.

I am switching to Akebono front and rear on both of our 9-5 Aero Wagons. One more corner to do on mine today. Replacing the front rotors with ATE [made in Germany]. The rear pads are a "BMW fitment". It is taking as much time to clean the wheels as the mechanical work. Hoping that the wheels will be maintainable. Will report brake feel later on. The pads will feel soft and new pads on the old rear rotors will prolong that.
